Techinicaly, he is a spartan. just not a spartan 2.apparantly there were another group of them,only less altering and no mjolnir.and Kalamor, what do mean spartans are stupid?they are trained to be the strongest and smartest soldiers in the army.seriously,it helps if you read the books.

no, i was talking about his comment on sgt johnson,who did have at least some kind of special training.and if he isn't a spartan 1,then he at least has the regenerative abilities he got from the flood. (i'm not crazy, read "First Strike")

Johnson was a Spartan I codenamed Orion and the Spartan I project had nothing to do with armour testing.

Someone who uses a Spartan Laser though is not a Spartan. I've given the laser to an ODSTand also to an Elite, Arby, common Marines and I think I saw the Flood use it. Does that mean they're all Spartans?
